Gas Safety Certification
Landlords are responsible for the safety of their tenants, and with an increasing amount of rental properties in the UK, it is important that the landlord has an up to date Gas Safety Certificate. The same procedure stands whether you are letting a whole property or just a room in a private household, and of course a holiday accommodation. The certification should cover all gas appliances in the property, including flues and fittings, and must meet the minimum safety standards under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.
If you are a tenant it is equally important that you ask to see the gas safety certificate, if this has not been supplied by the landlord or representing agents. If an appliance has gone through the necessary checks, you could be putting yourself in danger. Making sure this is in place is important for both parties, and importantly the tenants safety.
Ensuring your systems and appliances are Gas Safe!
Direct Boiler Services are able to ensure the safety of the property using three main services. Firstly, we supply maintenance work where required, ensuring all pipework and appliances are in a safe condition and serviced in accordance to a manufacturer’s instructions. We can also ensure that an annual service is provided by one of our Gas Safe engineers.
We would then look to complete a gas safety check. This is 12 monthly assessment that is required for all gas appliances and flues. This particular check ensures that gas fittings and appliances are safe to continue using. Lastly we make a record of the annual gas safety check to provide to Landlords, and subsequently any agents and tenants. It’s important to protect all parties.
